Common questions
How is this different from using the AI tools myself?
The AI tools give you an excellent draft in seconds. The human editing services add a layer of expert judgement — field awareness, tone calibration, journal-specific conventions — that AI alone can't reliably provide. Think of it as AI doing the heavy lifting and a human editor making it publication-ready.
Do I need to be a subscriber to use the editing services?
No. The editing services are available to everyone, whether or not you have a Science Editorium subscription. That said, using the AI tools to generate a first draft before submitting for human review typically produces a stronger final result.
What format should I submit my document in?
We accept Word (.docx), Google Docs links, and plain text. PDF submissions are accepted for review-only services. We return all edited documents as .docx files with tracked changes.
What if my manuscript is longer than the word limit?
Contact us before purchasing at editor@scienceeditorium.com and we'll provide a custom quote for longer manuscripts. For the Language Edit, manuscripts over 8,000 words are priced at $0.035 per word.
Is my unpublished research kept confidential?
Completely. We treat all submitted materials as strictly confidential. We do not retain copies of your work after the service is complete, and we do not share, reference, or use your research for any purpose. If required for your institution, we can sign a non-disclosure agreement before you submit.
Can I get an invoice for my institution or grant?
Yes. Stripe automatically generates a receipt for every transaction. For formal institutional invoices or purchase orders, contact us at editor@scienceeditorium.com before purchasing and we'll arrange it.
What is the revision policy?
Every service includes one round of revisions. If the returned work doesn't meet the scope of what was commissioned, let us know within 7 days and we'll revise at no extra cost. Revisions for new requirements or scope changes outside the original brief may incur an additional fee.
